Medic Mentor Covid-19 Vision

Medic Mentor COVID-19 vision, in partnership with the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund, aims to fundraise and support struggling doctors during the pandemic.  The fund has been designed to support our front line doctors who are experiencing physical, psychological and financial difficulties because of the COVID-19 pandemic and Medic Mentor aims to raise at least £10,000 to do this.  The Royal Medical Benevolent Fund has set up an urgent appeal to help thousands of doctors bravely standing between the virus and our vulnerable people in society, which Medic Mentor are supporting to actively campaign and fundraise as much as possible.  With your help, they can really make a difference to NHS doctors and their families. They can help prevent doctors under pressure leaving the profession for good, help doctors suffering with COVID-19 get back to work and continue their vital work and help alleviate further external pressures on the NHS. More information on this campaign and how to make a donation can be found at  https://medicmentor.co.uk/how-to-become-a-doctor-covid-19-mission/

Young Carers

We are still taking young carer referrals and supporting young carers so if a young person contacts someone at the school about being a young carer and looking for support don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.  Pupils can also contact young carers directly at:

Pupil Achievement

ongratulations to Charlie (S6) who has been given the Junior Volunteer of the Year award by Scottish Rowing.  This achievement was largely as a result of Charlie’s outstanding efforts with the Williamwood rowing club which he has led for a number of years.  Well done!

Online learning for pupils (including new codes for senior classes)

Online learning for all pupils can be accessed through Google Classrooms on Glow.  Please see information below:

All Williamwood young people have access to learning materials at home via GLOW, through their glow username and password.
https://glow.rmunify.com/

Every department has Google Classroom or Microsoft team resources. In these online spaces there are notes, PowerPoints, websites, past papers and revision materials for classes. We are endeavouring at this point in time to add as much information as possible to these excellent online resources. Young people should make full use of them.  A guide to support pupils to log on can be viewed here.  Google Classroom codes for subject areas can be accessed here.  This includes the new Goggle Classroom codes for new senior classes, which are in red.

GLOW user names and passwords can only be supplied to pupils.
Our school website also has lots of information and teaching materials under the departmental tabs. https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/Williamwood/departments/

Any pupil having trouble accessing their Google Classroom accounts should contact the school office by email.  Someone will call you back to talk you through the set up process.

Many young people in senior classes (S4-S6) make use of the excellent online scholar resources for selected subjects.
