S1 Baking Club

The S1 baking club gives pupils the chance to develop their baking and cake decorating skills using a range of recipes and techniques. The club will take place on Wednesdays after school from 3-4pm. Spaces are limited, so any interested pupils should attend a short meeting with Mrs Rogers in F&TT1 at lunchtime on Wednesday 27th August at 12.30pm.

Healthy Eating Week 2nd-6th June 2014

The F&TT department is taking part in this year’s British Nutrition Foundation Healthy Eating Week with various activities taking place throughout the week. S1 pupils have taken part in a national healthy eating survey to find out more about their eating habits and attitudes towards healthy eating. S1 and S2 pupils will be making cereal bars and preparing healthy snacks and classes will be taking part in interactive challenges through the ‘Food a Fact of Life’ website.

The recipes for the Intermeidate 1 Hospitality Practical Cookery exam 2014 are now available on the SQA website.

Christmas Cookery

Pupils in F&TT have been creating festive Christmas treats. The S1 baking club produced a range of Christmas cupcakes, S5 & S6 have been making mince pies and gingerbread decorations and the S1 Communications group produced fantastic chocolate logs. We wish all our pupils an enjoyable Christmas break. 

Intermediate and Higher Art Exhibition

S5 and S6 Hospitality pupils served drinks and festive  treats to over 300 pupils, parents and guests at this year’s Intermediate and Higher art exhibition.  Our thanks go to all of the pupils involved who provided great service throughout the evening.

Malawi Fashion Show

Well done to the Senior Cake Club girls who provided fabulous cakes and hospitality for pupils, parents and guests at this year’s S5 Malawi Fashion Show.  The girls also made and sold mugs full of sweets and ingenious ‘cakes in a mug’ for Fashion Show guests to enjoy.  All proceeds were donated to the Malawi group.

Rotary Young Chef Competition 2014

Congratulations to Kelsey S4 who was awarded runner up in this year’s Eastwood and Barrhead District Rotary Young Chef competition. Kelsey prepared a delicious menu of Cullen Skink risotto with poached egg followed by lemon posset with blueberry compote and shortbread, all served on a table dressed with Williamwood tartan and thistles.
