S1 Music Timeline

Course Outline:
The S1 Course consists of three elements – Performing, Understanding Music and Composing. These elements are integrated in Group Performances.
Learners will select two instruments from keyboard, guitar, xylophone, bass guitar and drum kit. They are also able to choose any other instrument (e.g. violin, clarinet) if they receive tuition out of class. For the majority of the rotation, students work as a whole class performing different group arrangements in a range of contrasting styles.
Students are encouraged to listen and identify key features of each performance and will learn simple concepts and musical literacy relating to this. The opportunity to create music is encouraged in group performance through improvisation.
