Commencing academic year 2019/20 Accounting will be offered for pupils to study in S2.
The S2 course will develop basic understanding of key concepts required for the study of Accounting at a National 5 level. Taking a project based approach, as with all of our other S2 subjects, pupils will be immersed in scenarios designed to develop and enhance skills required for life, learning and work.
Accounting is offered by the Scottish Qualification Authority at National 5 upward. This means that there is no opportunity for pupils to be presented at National 4. It is important that this fact is considered along with a pupil’s numeracy level before selecting this subject.
The Higher Accounting Course enables learners to understand and use financial information, so that they can prepare accounting statements and analyse, interpret and report on an organisation’s financial performance. The Course develops learners’ accuracy in preparing, presenting and interpreting complex accounting information, and enables them to apply complex accounting concepts and techniques when preparing financial information.
