The Gift of Christmas

The St Ninians High School S2 and 3 Business club prepared presents for Missionaries of Charity Pollock.

Throughout the year pupils partook in various enterprising activities turning a healthy profit. Pupils were then asked how they wanted to spend their profits from these activities and chose to support this amazing cause.

Overall £300+ was raised to support the Missionaries of Charity Pollock in their gift giving campaign.

Well done to all pupils involved.

A Glass Act at Young Enterprise Trade Fair

‘Glassy’ recently attended the Young Enterprise Trade Fair at Soar Intu Braehead, on Thursday 7 December, to be judged on their trade presentation skills so far.

Pupils have the opportunity to devise their own business idea, from concept to completion, taking responsibility for all aspects. Marketing, Operations, Finance and HR skills are all put to the test along with the need to apply.

‘Glassy’ chose to pursue business success through designing and decorating a range of glitzy wine glasses and champagne flutes for sale at a range of trade events, selling at £3 each or 2 glasses for £5.

The team were commended for the impact of their trade stall and their engagement with potential customers during the evening as well as their effective and well considered logo design.

Well done to all involved.

Glasses can still be purchased from Olivia Jones (Managing Director, Glassy) in 6th year.

S1 Chocolate Challenge

The first cohort of S1 pupils this week completed the first phase of their Business Education rotation, exploring practical principles of Business Management through the Chocolate Challenge.

Pupils had the opportunity to learn about principles of marketing, finance and product development and apply this new knowledge as they were tasked with creating a prototype product and preparing a sales pitch covering all aspects. Pupils were immersed in the scenario with the project culminating with the presentation of sales pitches, in a battle for potential investment, with some groups going above and beyond with the preparation of product samples for tasting.

We look forward to welcoming these classes back to the department as they undertake the second phase of the rotation, exploring elements of Administration and IT in a project approach to develop a wide range of digital literacy skills.

All first year pupils will partake in both phases during the course of the 2017/18 academic year.
