SHARING OUR LEARNING about CITC at assembly

We shared all our learning so far. The children  had created a Powerpoint and included photos of the journey of the fish so far. They showcased their stop motion videos displaying their perception of Clyde in the Classroom.

Following a discussion with our Scientist Paul, the trout will be released next Wednesday.

Science center visit

Primary 6a loved their visit to The Science center this week. They had plenty of time to explore all three floors and each child enjoyed discovering and experimenting with all the different activities.

Of course the reason for our visit was to prepare P6a for the imminent arrival of their new babies!

The hatchery will be delivered to the school this coming week and  we shall receive the fish eggs the week after. The children were enthusiastic and attentive as they were taught how to use the equipment and how to care for the fish. Regular updates will follow and please join us at our coffee and chat to hear about our journey and learning related to Clyde in the Classroom.

Homework w/c 19th November

Children should complete Sumdog as their maths homework this week. This will provide challenge as the questions become harder as they move up the levels and get more correct.

ERC are running a Sumdog competition this week and it would be fantastic if some pupils could make it on to the leaderboard.

All pupils have logins and passwords that have been tested in school. If any child can’t remember their login details, they can copy these down and bring them home.

If any pupils are struggling to gain access to the online activities, then a chromebook will be available for them to complete their tasks at the supervised, free,  early bird club, open daily from 8am and in the family room at 3pm (a guardian should be present at this time).

Any pupils still struggling to gain access  can speak to Mrs Nelson or Mrs McBrearty to make arrangements for them.

Thank you.

Maths in context- The playground project

Primary 6 pupils developed their skills through collating all the survey results gathered during the pupil voice outdoor learning lessons.

They had to decide which of the 4 operations to use and when. They then decided as a group how to display their results. They investigated reasons that may have skewed the results and then they created a presentation that they professionally delivered to SLT. Their work is displayed in the schools STEAM room and can be viewed by all visitors, staff and pupils.

w/e 7th September 2018

This week the children have been focusing on their mental maths skills each day along with their planned lessons. They have been learning to decompose a number or round it up or down to help them add mentally.

In science they finished their water topic by researching water and its uses. They used ICT to create a sway or powerpoint that they will share and present to the class  over the next few weeks.

They continued learning about the lives of Victorian children and were learning all about Victorian food. They made gruel and porridge and compared the taste of the two!
