Burns Assembly

On Friday the school is having a Burns Assembly and  P7a are going to be singing Loch Lomond, it would be great if you could encourage your child to practice the lyrics to the song as part of their homework this week as a substitute for spelling 🙂 if you would like an additional challenge you can translate the lyrics into modern English and copy them into your homework jotter.

Here are the lyrics and a link to the lyrics video

[Instrumental] – clapping

[Verse 1] – cross hands with person beside

By yon bonnie banks by yon bonnie braes
Where the sun shines on Loch Lomond
Where me and my true love spent many days
On the banks of Loch Lomond.

‘Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen
On the steep sides of Ben Lomond

But the broken heart knows no second spring
So resigned we must be while we’re partin’

[Chorus]
You’ll take the high road and I’ll take the low road
And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye
Where me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

[Instrumental] – clapping

Ho, ho mo leannan
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach
Ho mo leannan bhoidheach

[Chorus x5]
You’ll take the high road and I’ll take the low road
And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye
Where me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

On the bonnie, bonnie banks [x9]
