Outdoor learning
We have been continuing to participate in outdoor learning this week.
Children completed a series of challenges. The focus was on teamwork, communication, co-operation, creativity and problem solving. Not all children had a chance to complete all 5 tasks and will participate in each activity over the course of the next few weeks.
They worked together really well and every group met their targets and successfully completed their task!
Jerry park outdoor learning session
Primary 5 teamed up with Primary 1 to experience a variety of outdoor learning activities at the Jerry park today. We were accompanied by some students from Clyde college who had planned four fantastic lessons for us to participate in.
We had to use our maths skills to answer questions to find a code to release a captured bear from his cage!
We listened to a story and discussed the language and vocabulary and put this into the context of the wooded area.
We created potions from natural materials.
We carried out a bug hunt using our science skills of investigation.
Outdoor learning
We teamed up with Primary 1 to share the skills that we have learned with them. Primary 5 taught Primary 1 how to be safe in the school grounds and how to safely collect resources without damaging the natural area.
We worked on math skills and helped Primary 1 children to identify numbers to ,to count to10, to identify length and colours and read the words for these. We then helped them sequence resources that we had collected.
Primary 5 loved having the responsibility of helping the Primary 1 children and they had to think carefully about their own knowledge and understanding of concepts in order to explain it to another child.
