Primary 5 were learning about chemical reactions today. They were also learning to test a substance to identify if it was an acid or alkali. They made their own ph indicator from red cabbage and predicted what type of ph they thought a substance would have. They identified the ph of a substance by observing the colour change and then checked their answer using a ph indicator strip.

P5 Science
We continued with our science lessons today, building upon yesterdays knowledge.
P5 explored chemical reactions with more depth and created lava lamps to illustrate which of the materials they used reacted together. The majority of the class had hypothesised correctly at the beginning of the experiment but some children were pleasantly surprised at the result and some had been expecting an explosion!
