Mauritius update

As you are aware, we wrote to a school in Mauritius to establish a penpal relationship with them.  The class teacher said that her pupils were excited and delighted with their letters! A  number of our pupils have now received replies as the other school have asked their parents to write and post letters as opposed to paying for postage by the school. We are hopeful that most pupils will have a response by the end of term.

Many parents will know Margaret Mary through her involvement with St Johns Church. She has family in Mauritius and has visited several times. She kindly spoke to the children about her first hand experiences of their culture and island and brought in several photographs, maps and shells for the children to see.

Welcome back to the new term! This term promises to be as exciting as last term for Primary 5.

Along with continuing to read the Literacy World books we will be studying Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J.K Rowling.

Our class Social Studies  topic will be Africa and Mauritius. The children have received the opportunity to write to a pupil in Mauritius and hopefully develop a penpal relationship.

We will continue to take learning outdoors whenever the opportunity arises and to build our STEM skills through active and practical tasks.

December 2017

Hello this is Zak Reid and I am a pupil at St.Marks primary school. My favourite thing in this term has been able to work on my maths, literacy, grammar and most of all being able to work in peace and quite. We have read the BFG and Raiders. My favourite part of Riders was when edric had flung his lucky swallow at the evil viking that tried to hurt his father.

I am so exited until next term to see what surprises will happen !
