Primary 3b’s Roman Afternoon

The Primary 3b enjoyed their fun Roman afternoon this week. We wore our togas and made some super laurel wreaths, which made us all feel very important and powerful! We’ve learned so much during our unit of study, so it was great to get the chance to share this with our parents/carers who came to visit us.

We also had  a yummy Roman feast with some traditional  Roman foods. We even got to try some things we’d never had before! We liked some more than others!

Our final home challenge will be to design a Roman aqueduct! This will finish off our topic nicely and the deadline for this is 21st December. The children have received a hand-out detailing the materials they could use and some helpful pictures. Enjoy, boys and girls!

Primary 3a – Book Week

This week in class we have been looking at the work of the Scottish author Julia Donaldson. She has written many great poems and children’s books. Our class’ favourite is “The Snail and the Whale.” During our writing lesson, we wrote a review of this book. We discussed and wrote about how the author has used rhyming and alliteration to make the story interesting and funny. We also love how some of the illustrations in the book remind us that the author is Scottish, such as the Glasgow ship. For Art and Design, our class re-created illustrations of our favourite parts of the story. We focused on how lots of different colour is blended and added together to make the pictures come to life. Here is some of our work.
