A Thank You from the Pupil Council

This year our Pupil Council decided to support a local charity for Advent. When we were discussing which charity to support Premjot , one of our Primary 7 Representatives said, “There are lots of people living in poverty in Glasgow and we don’t always realise how many there are.” We chose Glasgow City Mission because they help people who are homeless.

When we contacted Glasgow City Mission they asked the pupils in our school and their families to donate toiletries and socks. Everyone was very generous and we collected many boxes of donations.  One of our Primary 6 pupils, Amy, was very moved by the appeal and decided to ask local shops to also donate socks to Glasgow City Mission. As a result of Amy’s efforts we also collected donations of socks from:

  • Sainsburys Local, Giffnock
  • Marks and Spencer, Newton Mearns
  • Tesco, Newton Mearns
  • Morrisons, Giffnock
  • Waitrose, Newton Mearns

Glasgow City Mission were very grateful for all the donations. They put some of the new socks into Christmas presents for their clients and they will use the toiletries at the homeless shelter that they run from December to March.

The Pupil Council would like to thank everyone who supported our Advent Appeal and Glasgow City Mission.
