Summer Mela

We are celebrating our summer Mela today. We will be participating in activites such as African storytelling, Russian cookery and American line dancing.

This afternoon we are holding a showcase event which parents and friends are invited to come watch. This gives our pupils the opportunity to highlight all the hard work they have been participating in over the last term.

So come along to IMS at 1.15pm for some Shakespeare, Bollywood dancing, human animations and more…….. .

Ardentinny 2012

The rain came and stayed with us at Ardentinny……………. but it never stoppped the fun and new friendships being formed with our buddies from Williamwood, St Ninian’s, Eastwood, Mearns Castle, Woodfarm and St Luke’s High schools.

The Make Your Dreams True 8 weekend was a great success and lots of new skills were gained from activities such as team building, archery, gorge walking, canoeing and rock hopping and everyone left the weekend with a great sense of satisfaction and excitement.

Once again the disco and talent show were shown to amongst the favourite activities.

The Williamood buddies thought the disco was the best ever……….. the dance floor being full from the first dance till the last dance with Fabio showing them some of his moves!

Grow Cook Eat

Congratulations to some of our senior pupils who are busy preparing food for their Grow Cook Eat Showcase which takes place this afternoon.

The pupils have invited a number of important guests. Unfortunately HRH Prince Edward couldn’t make it this week but we are delighted that our parents and  staff from ERC are able to come.

During our placements at Reid Kerr College and Rouken Glen Training Centre we have learned the important skills of cultivating produce such as lettuce and cucumber and then using the produce to make a tasty meal.

Olympic Torch Relay

Good luck to some of our senior pupils who have been selected to sing in a choir with two other schools from the authority.

As the Olympic Torch Relay passes through Giffnock the choir will sing a song especially written for the event.

Hopefully the rain will stay away between 4 and 6pm for a special lifetime experience.

We had sprint races, hurdles, egg and spoon race, boccia and table tennis, events which the pupils all took part in with great enthusiasm.

The popular staff and parent race finished off a very successful day and then everyone recieved a medal.

Th winning team Jamaica, nominated Natasha to collect the Olympic Torch and stand on the winners podium.

West of Scotland ASN Festival of Sport

Congratulations to the pupils  involved in the Festival of Sport which took place in the Kelvin Hall yesterday, a very successful day.

Our athletes displayed a winning attitude when participating in events such as javelin, long jump and relay/sprint events.

Well done to all that participated, showing excellent team work and making IMS proud!

Royal Visitor

On Tuesday 22nd May 2012 Isobel Mair School welcomed a very special visitor to the school during the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.

Mrs Wallace and  our very own head boy Fabio welcomed His Royal Highness, Earl of Wessex to tour the school and meet all the pupils and staff.

During his tour of the school he visited many of our teaching areas including the hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, adventure room and  then joined class Orkney who had compiled a ”Who wants to be a Royal Millionaire” Diamond Jubilee Quiz on the SMARTBoard showcasing the work they had researched using key points in Her Majesty, The Queen’s life.

The highlight of the tour was a special performance from “Reels on Wheels” our very own wheelchair dancing group and then his Royal Highness officially opened our Jubilee woods, unveiling a plaque to commemorate the work of the pupils in the school and  then planted a tree which will hold special memories for everyone.

It was indeed a very memorable day in the life of Isobel Mair School.

A Right Royal Day!

Isobel Mair School started their Jubilee celebrations early with a special visit from HRH Prince Edward the Earl of Wessex.

The Prince spent time talking to all of the young people whilst touring our new school.

He was particuarly impressed with Reels on Wheels and our sensory garden.

He also took part in an interactive “Who wants to be a Royal Millionaire” with class Orkney hosted by JonathonTarrant. He used the SMART Response voting system during his 50/50 question.

Photographs to follow.

Olympic Celebrations at IMS

Olympic fever has started early in our school.

We’ve had the “Silly Olympics” from Class Tiree, their very own adaptation of the Olympics which they showcased at the Primary Assembly.

Our very own Olympian, Steve Frew (2002 Commenwealth Gold Medalist)  has been working with some of our senior pupils giving them an insight into what it’s like to be a very successful sports person.

Classes have researched all about the Olympics and have been working very hard and tomorrow we are excited to be welcoming the Olympic torch to our school. (not the real one of course!)

Have a sneak preview of some our  display work which is around the school….

Jubilee Celebrations

Classes have been working hard on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee topic this term.

They painted pictures, created sculptures and even wrote poems to celebrate this very special event.

Have a look at some of our creations below.

Come Dine With Me @IMS

Class Jura  invited their parents into school for a “Come Dine With Me” experience.

They have been working really hard, planning the menu, shopping for ingredients and then making the dishes.

Have a look at some of the delicious dishes below.

Scores will be revealed at a later date!

Well done Class Jura
