PAMIS will be holding an SDS event on the 17th January at the Adelphi Centre in Glasgow, which will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. (Additional information can be found on the attached event flyer.) This event will involve two sessions:
MORNING SESSION
The morning session will be looking at some of the specific topics under SDS that family carers, caring for a person with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex healthcare needs, want or feel they need to know more about. This session will be primarily for family carers.
AFTERNOON SESSION
The afternoon session will be attended by a number of members of the PAMIS team who will be available with information on the different pieces of work PAMIS carries out. This will include:
· The overall work of PAMIS and how our projects, research, partnership working and training offered, link in with the Family Support Service Director’s work
· Importantly, the many ways in which we support people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and their family carers
We are inviting professionals from all sectors involved in supporting people with PMLD and hope that you, or someone representing your service, will be able to attend to hear what we do, and how we can work in partnership with others across Glasgow & Clyde and Scotland.
Ideally, we hope to have a mix of people who care for and support people with PMLD and who also wish to network with others and share information about their service with family carers, professionals and other relevant organisations.
Afternoon attendees can:
· set up an information stand and meet the PAMIS team
· attend in a drop-in basis as able
Further information can be found on the attached flyer. Please book as requested on the flyer so that we are able to order beverages as required. Available space means that stands will be limited so, if you wish to book a space for displaying your work, please contact me as soon as possible. All stand holders will be asked to set up between 9:00 am and 10:00 am on the day and return to the open afternoon session at 1:30 pm.
Information gathered at this event will help inform our work over the next ten years and assist in our decisions, as we consider how PAMIS continues to best support people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and their family carers, in the future.
We look forward to hearing from you
Best wishes
Liz Platt

Class Orkney are proud winners of the school “Switch off fortnight” challenge.
They really tried their best to be more energy efficient & switch off lights & technology when not in use & spend more time outside.
Mrs McKinnon presented them with 4 solar robot kits & certificates
All they pupils were delighted with their certificates.
Thank you to Miss Helmore who arranged a wonderful breakfast and meet with Santa this morning at the Capelrig, Newton Mearns.
Pupils set off this morning with the wind blowing and walked to the local restaurant, excited to be meeting Santa.
Pupils made choices for breakfast and some brought their own snacks.
Pupils were so excited when they heard the sounds of the bells and finally Santa made an appearance.
Santa visited all the tables and spoke with them all and was even presented with a picture that one of the boys from Class Tiree had coloured in.
A great morning for everyone and not only did we get to meet Santa but we were able to generalise some of the skills we have been working on in school.

Classes Tiree, Mull and Jura are taking part in The Shoebox Appeal 2017, through the charity Blythswood Care.
They will be filling shoeboxes with a variety of gifts and resources in order to help make people in less advantaged areas of the world happy this Christmas.
They would be extremely grateful if you could help us fill as many boxes as possible by sending in to school some of the resources listed on the attached information sheet by Friday 10th November. Empty shoe boxes and Christmas wrapping paper would be helpful too. If you wish, you can find more information about this appeal at https://www.blythswood.org/shoebox .
Every little gift donated will be greatly appreciated by someone this Christmas! We look forward to being part of this exciting opportunity and hope you can join us.
