In maths, Pythagoras have been learning about time. We have been playing Sumdog and doing assessments about graphs and tables. Euler have been learning about area and perimeter. Mrs Lamont was drawing shapes on the board and we had to figure out the area inside. We had to count the squares inside the shape. Turing and Newton have been doing addition and subtraction, we got given a set of calculations to answer.
In BIG writing, we made an imaginary story about our characters getting stuck in a cave. We had to make it sound realistic and include lots of brilliant VCOP. Everybody had some amazing ideas for their characters and how they got stuck in a cave.
In literacy, we have been doing comprehension about battery power. It gave us amazing facts and awesome information. We also did one about a governess called Mrs Slighcarp. She looked after a child called Bonnie and her orphan sister Sylvia. They were both very good stories!
In social studies, we have started our new topic all about Scottish landscapes. This week we have started taking notes and comparing Scottish landscapes to a country of our choice. Once we had completed our notetaking, we started to make our own presentations all about comparing the two different landscapes. We are enjoying our new topic!
In ICT we were creating an animals of the world presentation. Basically, we got given uncommon species of animals and we had to research about them. We had to get one fact and picture of them.
In health, we have been doing mindfulness, this week we made our own glitter jars! They are very stress reliving! We had to bring in our own plastic bottles and fill them up with water, add glitter and some food colouring, then we were ready to shake and watch the glitter fall.
In PE, we have started our new topic… gymnastics! We have been putting up different stations and then balancing, jumping, twisting and rolly-pollying. We really enjoy our new topic, and it really helps there are some experts to help us out!
In art we have been learning to draw textures. We watched a tutorial of how to draw brick, wood and metal with just a pencil and paper. The end results are amazing!
In science, we have been learning about H2O and how clean water is made. It’s very interesting. First, you flush the toilet and then it goes into the sewage pipes under our very own feet. Next, it travels to the water transplant and gets emptied. Then, they make the water clean by the good bacteria that sucks up all the dirt. They give it one last clean and then it’s ready to drink! This involves the water cycle, and the urban water cycle too.
