We started our new topic all about Scottish Landscapes and Mapping. We were learning about the main seven rivers in Scotland. The River Clyde runs through Glasgow, some of the other rivers were the River Tweed, Spey, Tay, Dee, Forth and Don. Today we were learning how to use an atlas to identify where the rivers were. It was tricky but good fun.
We are very excited about taking part in a design your own app competition where we can design and come up with some great ideas. The winning design will actually be made into an app that everyone in the world could download!
In writing, we wrote a letter to the council to complain that we didn’t want Rouken Glen Park to have a shopping centre build on it. We had to use a formal tone and try to be persuasive.
Euler have been working on area and perimeter. We have been using our knowledge of shapes to help us and have been using our skills to help us solve word problems.
Pythagoras have been learning about time. We have been learning about mins past and to and we have been calculating time durations bridging an hour.
We did some mindful colouring with Mrs Nisbet this week and with Mrs Slorach we were debating our opinions and playing a game of ‘Would you rather?’. It was good fun!
We moved onto our new pathways for Skills Academy. In life skills we were making breakfast bars using porridge oats, sultanas, coconut sprinkles, apricots and honey. It was delicious! In learning for sustainability we evaluated how sustainable we thought we were inside and outside of school, we also went outside to find different natural materials such as sticks and leaves. This will help us next week. Digital technology were using spheros, we were learning how to make them move and talk! Design and manufacture were making tables from eight pieces of paper, one 20cmx20cm piece of card, one book to see if the table could hold it, scissors, a ruler and some tape.
