In ICT Mrs Grubb’s topic side have continuing to learn about PowerPoint. This week we learned how to add a new slide and how to make an animate the text. – Lucy G and Riley
In language Emily C was learning how to write summary. They got newspapers and read them. We then choose our favourite story and had to write a summary about it. Emily chose a story about a girl who wanted her ears pierced.
In art we were learning how to paint using different textures. We made different textures by using different brush strokes. We made a sandy picture to go with our under the sea picture we did the other week. Naomi, Ava, Lucy G, Alexander, Timothée and Corinne.
In maths Timothée, Emilia Jessica and Lily were learning about time and how to calculate time differences like 1 hour later or earlier. We learned by listening to the teacher and playing a pairs game. In the game we had to set the time then get a partner and work out the difference between them.
In maths Areeb was practising number bonds to 20. He played a game ‘How many to get to..’ and he did very well getting everything correct!
In maths this week Emily and Cameron were learning how to round to the nearest 10. They completed three pages of work to do with rounding!
In language Farhan was learning how to answer true, false and can’t tell questions. The ‘can’t tell’ questions were tricky! We had to keep going back to the book to find the answers.
In focus groups at fairtrade Ava was making a poster showing pictures of things that are fairtrade. Ava drew a banana, cocoa beans and chocolate.
In language the Wizard of Oz’s were reading about Kim and the Computer Giant and were learning how to answer different types of questions – right there, on your own and think and search. The think and search ones are the hardest. We have been learning to always look back at the book even if we think we remember the answer. Alexander
Calum and Lucy G have been learning how to carry 10’s in maths.
For a morning maths activity Mrs Grubb’s side add and subtract using tens and units. Aiden finds this a bit tricky but it is good work with a partner to help.
In topic Alex was learning about smell. We had cups full of different things. We had to smell them and decide if we liked that smell or not. It was funny how some people liked one smell and others did not.
For fun at play yesterday we all went outside and built a snowman. We had to work together to make the biggest snowman and then we had to somehow make 3 buttons, two eyes, a nose and mouth!! It was great fun but we all go very wet!!
