We have had interesting visitors to our class this week. Margaret and Louise came to talk to us about what it was like when they were young.

Margaret is 92 and loves dancing. When she was little the teacher in her school could give naughty children the belt. We are very glad that we don’t have the belt in school now! She had to go outside to the toilet and walk down to the foot of her garden. For toilet paper, they used cut up bits of newspaper.

Louise had to play with wooden toys. She also used to get one of her dad’s socks, out a ball inside it and play ‘ball’. Christopher remembers that some toys were made of lead which was dangerous if eaten.

We really appreciated their visit and they have left us with some wooden toys we can use.
