When learned when the bottle is squeezed, the air inside it is compressed and the pressure increases. The high pressure causes the air inside to move to an area of low pressure outside the bottle. As the air travels through the straw, the rocket propels forward.
Primary 6a will now be completing spelling tasks using their multi-sensory activity sheet and their weekly spelling words. Pupils are more than welcome to create their own strategy if they feel that it is beneficial for helping them to spell that word. Please let me know if you require another copy of this sheet.
With regard to mental maths, activities will now be issued through EducationCity. Log ins for pupils will be issued next week and activities will be linked to class work or the mental maths skill that has been practiced.
Whole school homework will also be issued with a different focus each week. For the approaching week, homework has a festive theme as it is a Christmas Card Competition! See the link below for more details.
Thanks to the work done by the Community Committee, we all wore red today to Show Racism the Red Card!
In class we watched some videos about what this campaign does within society, sport and schools. From there we designed our own posters promoting the end of racism. Some of the slogans we came up with were ‘Stay calm and say no to racism’ and ‘RACISM WRONG’.
As a class we decided that our ‘show racism the red card’ posters could stay up in the classroom throughout the year, so that we can consistently think about ways to show racism the red card!
Today, we went on a trip to the Central Mosque in the Gorbals in Glasgow. There, we had the oppportunity to learn lots of different things, ranging from the architecture of the mosque to the times of the prayers.
One interesting fact that we learned was that in the mosque, green is a common colour because this is the favourite colour of The Prophet Muhammad.
Another thing that we learned was that during prayer, you stand and sit and only some people are allowed chairs if they are older or if they have a disability.
We also learned that women and men are separated in the mosque for washing and praying.
In the prayer room, there are no pictures or distractions so that people can focus on their prayers.
Overall, we had a great time and we were fortunate to learn a lot more facts which we will enjoy exploring further in RME!

On Thursday, Fiona from Zoo-Ed visited our classroom with some animals from the story of the Chinese Zodiac.
The animals in the story are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, boar and cat. We know the story of the race very well and we were excited to meet some of the animals.
We met: Philip the Guinea Pig, Rizzo and Henry the Rats, Angus the Corn Snake, Dexter the Bearded Dragon and Boudica-Rose the ‘cheeky’ Hare.
This week we painted some awesome Autumn leaves by using an art technique called wet onto wet. We painted the leaves red, blue, green, orange and purple. We also wrote some Autumn poems. It was good fun and we think they look fantastic.
We were so pleased to be the line of the week last week. We had an extra playtime on Wednesday and enjoyed being out in the sunshine. We loved playing on the adventure playground. The monkey bars, new climbing frame and net swing are our favourites!
