There will be no homework this week!!!

On Friday we will be visiting Giffnock United reformed Church to learn about advent. Please wear sensible jacket and shoes that day.

Friday is also Christmas Jumper day organised by the Pupil Council.  If you wish to wear a Christmas jumper you can bring a donation for Save the Children.

Homework Due Friday 6th December

Hi everyone and happy 2nd of December. I hope we are all getting wrapped up warm because it looks like it could be a cold one this year.  Here is the homework for this week. Any problems let me know.

Numeracy:

Each child has been set a Sumdog task to be completed by Friday. They should all know their logins but if not I can find out for them. If you have any problems with internet access please let me know.

Literacy:

This week the children are to pick an article of their choice from the CBBC Newsround website. I have provided a link to this below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround

The children are to take notes in any way they choose (bullet points, list, mind map, doodles and words) and then summarise the article in their own words. This is to be done in their literacy jotter.

The children are also to select 5 words they don’t know or 5 unusual words from the article. With these words they are to use context clues to clarify the meaning. This is something we have been practicing in class. I have listed the techniques known by the children below for them to refer to.

  1. Reading Back
  2. Rereading
  3. Reading On
  4. Context and Picture Clues
  5. Make Connections

Homework Due 29th November

Happy Monday everyone! Here is the homework for this week.

Numeracy:

After the children having expressed how much they enjoyed doing their maths homework on Google Classroom last week , I have decided to do the same this week. Again, if there is any issues at all with completing this please let me know. I know internet connection can be temperamental at times.

Literacy:

In class the children have been learning note taking skills. For homework this week they are to use their note taking skills while researching the climate of a country of their choice. It can be any country in the world except the UK. The children are to take notes on WHAT the climate is like in that country and WHY the climate is like that. Once they have taken their notes, they are to create a poster or leaflet showcasing what new knowledge they have found out. I will send more in-depth instructions home with your child but if there are any issues or questions please let me know.

Online Profiles:

Can I also ask that children look over their online profiles and add any learning experiences, photos etc they feel they are missing. For example, the library visit, our learning assembly, beep beep day, our new IDL topic.

Class Assembly and ‘Beep Beep’ Day

As you will be aware the p6 class learning assembly is taking place this Wednesday. As it happens, this coincides with the schools ‘Beep Beep Day’ where the children have been asked to wear stripes along with their school uniform. I know some of the children are planning on wearing their own clothes for the class assembly. However, can they bring their school uniform and ‘Beep Beep Day’ clothes to change back into after the assembly is over. Thanks for your cooperation.  Miss Howie.

Homework Due Friday 22nd November

It’s that time of week again for homework to be given out. This week a lot of the children’s homework is on Google Classroom. If you are not able to access the internet or have any other problems please let me know and I can give your child a physical copy of the homework.

I am looking forward to seeing some of you at this week’s class assembly. I’m sure it will be a great morning and I know the children are very excited about it.
