Mermaids and Pirates

Our fantastic entries are about to be sent off for the Tesco Bank Art Competition. Thanks to Raine’s mum for her initial workshop and to all of you for providing further stimulus and resources too!

Look at our wonderful varied images using painting, printing, collage and drawing 🙂

Inspired by… Hergé!

In Art and Design this week we were improving our drawing skills. We explored some different styles and materials before focusing on Hergé’s signature style.

Miss Paterson told us it is called ligne claire or clear line. We used our deduction skills to work out what that drawing style might look like.

What do you think of our Tintin character studies?

Sumdog success!

Thank you for all your mental maths support at home this week. Our class came tenth of all the classes in East Renfrewshire that were taking part – more than 100 of them! We are really proud of ourselves. 😁

Four other Braidbar classes also made it into the top ten and we think that’s a great achievement.

An arty challenge

Continuing our sequence of lessons on famous artists and their masterpieces we took inspiration from Michaelangelo. After finding out a bit about his life we then discussed how he decorated the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

This is us having a go at creating images from a rather awkward position! He used paint but Miss Paterson thought that we might end the lesson looking more like Jackson Pollock if we painted so we used pens for our themed designs.

It’s hard to colour.

I don’t think this will be my best work.

He must have been a good artist to do such a detailed design.

You need to be patient.

I’ve thought about line and colour.

We’d like to do this again.

Literacy across learning

In reading recently we have all been focusing on non-fiction texts. We applied what we know to find, select and sort information about Tintin and his creator, Hergé.

Our profile pages share what we found out in an interesting and engaging way. This builds on our recent writing lessons where we thought about combining text and other features to make our writing attractive for the reader.

P.E.

Miss Paterson enjoyed teaching us PE for a change. We increased our heart rate by running around and learned some orienteering skills too.

“It was fun”

“It gave us fresh air and helped us to think”

“We could make it harder next time”

Parent power!

Thank you to all of the family members who have been in recently to support our learning. We enjoyed sharing our knowledge of ancient Egypt and then quizzing you!

We also couldn’t have had such a successful pancake session without all your help. For those of you who didn’t manage to join us due to work commitments, you may wish to follow the link below to make some pancakes at home!

Line of the week – again!

For the third time this year we were the best class after break and lunch, showing respectful behaviour, teamwork and good manners. This meant we were awarded the Line of the Week title again. We are proud of how we worked together and that Mrs Brown noticed this.

Last Friday we took our extra 10 minutes play reward and stayed outside for Golden Time too.
