Engineering Week – 2017

This week is Engineering Week 2017!

As part of Engineering Week we are highlighting to students the opportunities and career paths that are open to them.

As a starting point, students should read the ‘What is Engineering – Student Leaflet‘.

Parents/Carers can get involved to by reading ‘Parents Guide to Engineering careers‘.

For more information on how to progress from school, to university/modern apprenticeships and on to becoming an engineer, please view the Career Route Map.

For more information on Engineering Week or engineering careers in general, please view the Tomorrow’s Engineers website.

Student Achievements

Achievements for this week:

  • Grace won 5 gold medals at a recent gymnastics competition. Another outstanding achievement  for Grace.

  • Blair received his medal for winning the cricket league last season.

  • Zoe won 2 medals at the recent  Scottish Schools swimming heats. Gold in the 200m back and silver in the 100m back. Well done Zoe!

  • U18 football team came back from 5-2 down to draw 5-5 with Renfrew high this week. “Easily the most entertaining game of football this year! Better than watching Blackburn” (Mr Maybury 2017).

  • 4 of our pupils set off on their journey to Malawi this week; Calum, Tom, Emma and Briony. This is an excellent opportunity and they have worked very hard to get to this point. I am sure they will have lots to share with us when they come back.

  • Ryan has a placement this term in a tech company. Ryan has developed a software programme which is more efficient than the programme that their own qualified engineers developed. The company are trialling the software and are hoping to start using it. It will save them both time and money. Well done Ryan.
