To all S4 students going on their DOFE Assessed expedition on Wed & Thurs this week:

Please meet at Barrhead train station no later than 9:10am on Wed, 25th Sept.  Do NOT buy a ticket, Mr Boag has these.

Students will travel by train to Drumfrochar train station (accompanied by teaching staff).  Students should be dressed ready for a day of walking and with their rucksacks packed and ready to go.

Weather Forecast:

At this stage we have wet weather forecast for both Wednesday and Thursday.  Students should ensure all of their kit is inside a rubble bag (including their tent and a separate bag for their sleeping bag) before being placed in their rucksacks.  Students may wish to bring additional wet weather clothing.

Returning on Thursday

Students will return to Barrhead train station at approximately 4pm on thursday (26th Sept).  Students can be collected from the train station at this time.  Students will notify their parents/carers if we plan to arrive earlier or later.

All S3 students have received a Duke of Edinburgh presentation this afternoon at their assembly.

If your child (S3 students only) is looking to undertake The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award over the next year, then I would encourage parents, carers and students to attend our Duke of Edinburgh Parents’/Carers’ Information Evening on Thursday, 19th Sept at 6.30pm.

DOFE Update 2nd Sept:

1. A change has been made to the kit issue below.  The DOFE Manager is able to start issuing kit from 5.30pm on Tues, 3rd Sept rather than 6pm as previously stated.  If you cannot make the earlier time, this is ok too. We will be at the Fairweather hall from 5.30pm and issue kit until everyone has attended.
2. Can all students return their consent forms to Mr Boag ASAP.

All S4 DOFE Students & Parents:

The DOFE Manager has confirmed that all expedition kit will be issued from the Fairweather Hall,  Barrhead Road, Newton Mearns, Glasgow G77 6BB on Tuesday, 3rd September, from 6pm.

Students should arrive with their £50 deposit (either as cash or a cheque made payable to East Renfrewshire Council, in a sealed envelope and with your son/daughter’s name written clearly on the envelope).

Please note: not all students need to attend to collect their kit.  Students have already split into tent groups – three students to each tent.  Therefore, one student  (and parent/carer) could collect all the kit necessary for the three students in their tent; they would just need to have each of the deposits from all three students.

Practice Expedition – Thurs & Fri 5th & 6th Sept.

Can I ask that all students pay the £35 cost of their practice expedition by 2nd September.  This should be done through ParentPay. Thank You.

All DOFE students should arrive at school by 8.45am on Thursday, 5th September. Students should have a substantial breakfast, have their rucksacks all packed and be suitably dressed ready for a day of walking/hiking.  We will leave Barrhead by 9am and arrive in Strathaven by 10.30am.
