Barrhead High are planning to run the Go4SET STEM competition again this year. This is organised by EDT and involves S2 students (only) working as a team, supported by a mentor from industry, to solve a real-life STEM problem.
The competition starts in November and at this stage I am looking for six S2 students (or more) to get involved with this exciting opportunity.
The project will run differently from previous years. There will be more virtual meetings with our industry mentor, but we are hoping to expose our students to more STEM experts by simply taking advantage of technology,
If you are interested in the competition, then let Mr Boag (Maths) know ASAP. At this stage we have one mentor that can support one team of six students, although it may be possible to run more teams if there are a number of students interested.
It is important that students volunteering for this competition realise that this club will run at lunch time and after school – and may require us to work virtually most of the time. It is also important that students do not start the competition and then drop-out. #We’re-in-it-to-win-it
