BHS Virtual Conic Hillwalk, June 2020

Our annual walk up Conic Hill was started by pupils in response to the Nepal earthquake in 2015. They wanted to do something both symbolic and supportive in recognition of the tragedy that struck that mountainous country; so a fund-raising hillwalk was born.

We also wanted it to be a community event, so up to 100 pupils, staff and parents have joined together every year since to repeat this and the money each year has gone to different charities.

COVID-19 in 2020 meant the walk could not happen in the usual format, but that did not stop us. Pupils, staff and parents joined together ‘virtually’ to share their efforts to walk the same distance or climb the same height as Conic Hill.

This year, our funds will go to the local charity Include Me 2 Club, which has been working to support people in these COVID affected times.

IM2C

Include Me 2 Club engages, inspires and empowers their membership of children, young people, adults and families affected by an additional support need, disability, mental health condition, challenge or barrier, to be part of inclusive communities, places and opportunities to lead active, included and fulfilling lives.

Each year, we have asked participants to try to raise some sponsorship for their efforts or for other people who could not take part, to make a donation. Pupils & parents will be able to contribute through Parentpay this week. Please help support this good cause.
