The celebration of Burns Day has become an annual tradition for Barrhead High School. The catering staff provide the haggis, neeps and tatties, as well as Scotch Broth soup, for S6 pupils and staff.
Mr Selbie addressed the haggis in fine style (in Mr Beaton’s untimely absence due to jury duty, having done much of the preparation) and Head Boy Ryan gave a witty toast to the lassies. Head Girl Tori matched his wit in a robust reply on behalf of the lassies. Mr Sinclair delivered the Selkirk Grace.
Mrs Cunningham ensured our educational enlightenment with the Immortal Memory informing us of the life and work of our national bard, accompanied by musical illustrations from Mrs Dickov and Mrs Laverty.
The musical entertainment included our own ceilidh band and as a new first, a highland sword dance. Many other pupils joined us to watch the proceedings.
Thanks to all who organised and participated to ensure another successful whole school event. You can get a flavour of the event from the latest excellent film produced by our multimedia technician, Matthew .
