As you will be aware , we received a malicious communication this morning. In line with our established procedures and in conjunction with ERC staff and Police Scotland, a thorough investigation was carried out throughout the building and the possibility of any threat was shown to be unfounded. Within the hour, I was able to speak to all staff and pupils and give them full reassurance that our investigation had demonstrated conclusively that there was no risk. A communication to that effect was sent both by ERC and the school.
Pupils returned to class and were dismissed for an early lunch to compensate for the lost morning interval. Pupils were in classes as normal in the afternoon.
I would like to congratulate all the pupils for responding so well to what they were being asked to do and remaining calm. My thanks also to all the staff for their assistance in managing the situation efficiently.
The matter is now in the hands of the police and will be dealt with appropriately, both by Police Scotland and ourselves.
I appreciate the concern an incident like this raises in the minds of all and I would like to thank parents also for their patience, understanding and support in working with us for the good of all the young people.
Mr Sinclair
