Design and Technology Overview
In Design and Technology, we have embedded Practical Woodwork, Practical Metalworking, Graphic Communication, and Design & Manufacture into our Broad General Education (S1-S3) to make the learner’s journey as exciting as possible.
Well-designed practical activities and classroom tasks offer young people opportunities to develop:
- curiosity and problem solving skills, a capacity to work with others and take initiative.
- planning and organisational skills in a range of contexts.
- creativity and innovation through computer-aided design and manufacturing approaches.
- skills in using tools, equipment, software and materials.
- skills in collaborating, leading and interacting with others.
- skills for life and work
- skills in commercial manufacture with our 3D printer and Laser Cutter
