Roses

We have been learning about Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We have enjoyed looking at the iconic flower design that he created.  We created our very own design using pencil and pen. We drew curved lines to create the rose and straight lines to create the background.

I can respond to the work of artists and designers by discussing my thoughts and feelings. I can give and accept constructive comment on my own and others’ work. EXA 1-07a

I can create and present work using the visual elements of line, shape, form, colour, tone, pattern and texture. EXA 1-03a

Problem Solving

We were using the problem solving strategy:

‘Draw a picture or diagram or make a model’

The problem we were trying to solve was:

In the high street there were eleven blocks of flats in a straight line.

The Council planted two trees between each block of flats.

How many trees were planted altogether?

Inventing Robots

We have been creating robots using different materials, shapes and colours. We created a name and a job for our robots. Using our V.C.O.P strategies we wrote some WOW words to describe them!

“My robot would do the shopping for me!” Jamie

“I used the WOW word ‘glowing’ because my robot lights up at night!” Grace

I have the opportunity to choose and explore a range of media and technologies to create images and objects, discovering their effects and suitability for specific tasks.

Colour Wheel Monsters!

During Art and Design, we created colour wheel monsters to help us learn the primary colours and secondary colours. In groups, we discussed what primary colours mix together to make secondary colours. We chose different materials to make our colour wheel, used scissors to cut out the wheel and created our monster!

We introduced our monster to the class!

I can create and present work using the visual elements of line, shape, form, colour, tone, pattern and texture.
