Primary 3 worked really hard to learn songs and make PowerPoints for our P3 Rainforest and Polar Lands Assembly.

STEM Week
As part of STEM week we took part in a Merck workshop. There were 4 different stations. At one station we learned how to make lava lamps. We used oil and water that was coloured with food colouring. We looked at the reasons why the oil floats on top of the water.
At the second station we got to make slime using corn starch, food colouring and water. When we pressed the slime really hard it was solid and when you pressed it gently it was a liquid. It was very messy so we needed to wear goggles and a white suit.
At the third station we learned about bacteria and how it spreads and grows, and at the final station we looked at different types of cells under the microscope.
We then found out there had been 2 secret agents that had a special germ liquid on their hands. Zoe and Josh had to touch as many of us as possible to show how easy it is to spread germs. They shone a special light on our hands which showed all the germs.
Heartstart Training
I am learning to assess and manage risk, to protect myself and others, and to reduce the potential for harm when possible. HWB1-16a
We have been participating in Heartstart training and now know how to help a conscious casualty, an unconscious casualty and someone who has cut themselves really badly. We practised putting someone into the recovery position and we even saved Mr Stern.
Google Classrooms
Gymnastics
I am discovering ways that I can link actions and skills to create
movement patterns and sequences. This has motivated me to
practise and improve my skills to develop control and flow.
HWB 1-21a
I am developing skills and techniques and improving my level of
performance and fitness. HWB 1-22a
We have been learning different ways to balance, roll, travel and jump. We worked together on a variety of apparatus and helped each other to make sequences using the skills we learned.
Outdoor Learning
We took part in outdoor learning. We had to work together in groups to make different shapes.
The Great Kapok Tree
As part of our Rainforest topic we read the story – The Great Kapok tree. It tells the story of all the animals in the rainforest that are losing their homes and are dying because men are cutting down so many trees in the rainforest.
We were split into groups, and each group had to act out a part of the story.
I have experienced the energy and excitement of presenting/performing for audiences and being part of an audience for other people’s presentations/performances.  EXA 1-01aÂ
World Book Day
We all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book character for World Book Day. We found out about how authors describe characters and we studied Mr and Mrs Twit from The Twits by Roald Dahl.
There was a World Book Day assembly and we had to guess what books went with the illustrations we were shown.
We also made book covers of our favourite books. We had to include the title, author, write the blurb on the back and illustrate it. We are going to make a book buddy and display them in our library corner.
Great Grammar!
Sequencing
Through exploring number patterns, I can recognise and continue simple number sequences and can explain the rule I have applied. MTH 1-13b
We have been continuing patterns and sequences. We have also been identifying the missing numbers in number sequences. We could find and explain the rule we used to continue the number sequence.
