We have been enjoying participating in some dances.
I am becoming aware of different features of dance and can practise and perform steps, formations and short dance.
Through exploring number patterns, I can recognise and continue simple number sequences and can explain the rule I have applied. MTH 1-13b
We have been continuing patterns and sequences. We have also been identifying the missing numbers in number sequences. We could find and explain the rule we used to continue the number sequence.
Having explored fractions by taking part in practical activities, I can show my understanding of:
• how a single item can be shared equally
• the notation and vocabulary associated with fractions
• where simple fractions lie on the number line. MNU 1-07a
We have been learning about fractions and have been finding fractions of shapes and fractions on a number line.
I have investigated angles in the environment, and can discuss, describe and classify angles using appropriate mathematical vocabulary.
We explored different sizes of angles and why we need to be able to measure angles. We classified them as being acute, right-angled and obtuse. We made fish with different sized mouths.
I have explored a variety of ways in which data is presented and can ask and answer questions about the information it contains. MNU 1-20a
I have used a range of ways to collect information and can sort it in a logical, organised and imaginative way using my own and others’ criteria. MNU 1-20b
Using technology and other methods, I can display data simply, clearly and accurately by creating tables, charts and diagrams, using simple labelling and scale. MTH 1-21a
We have been organising information in tables using tally marks.
We displayed information in pictograms, bar graphs, Venn and Carroll diagrams.
We also use spreadsheets to help us make bar graphs on the computer.
By exploring climate zones around the world, I can compare and describe how climate affects living things. SOC 1-12b
By exploring a natural environment different from my own, I can discover how the physical features influence the variety of living things. SOC 1-13b
We have been learning about the people that live in the polar lands.
I can sing and play music from other styles and cultures, showing growing confidence and skill while learning about musical notation and performance directions. EXA 1-16a
I have experienced the energy and excitement of presenting/performing for audiences and being part of an audience for other people’s presentations/performances. EXA 1-01a
After listening to different songs from around the world we finished by learning a song from Scotland for the Scots Verse Event.
We put in hours of practise and performed our song and dance brilliantly in front of a wonderful audience. We hope everyone enjoyed Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff a Bus.
I can describe and recreate the characteristics of my local environment by exploring the features of the landscape. SOC 1-07a
We explored the features of the Scottish landscape and compared it with different environments around the world.
I am learning to use my notes and other types of writing to help me understand information and ideas, explore new problems, generate and develop ideas or create new text- LIT1-25a.
Using digital technologies responsibly I can access, retrieve and use information to support, enrich or extend learning in different contexts. TCH 1-02a
We also carried out research in ICT and found out some interesting facts about Scotland.
As I listen or watch, I can identify and discuss the purpose, key words and main ideas of the text, and use this information for a specific purpose. LIT 1-04a
To show my understanding across different areas of learning, I can identify and consider the purpose I am aware of and able to express my feelings and am developing the ability to talk about them. HWB 1-01a
I know that we all experience a variety of thoughts and emotions that affect how we feel and behave and I am learning ways of managing them. HWB 1-02a
I understand that there are people I can talk to and that there are a number of ways in which I can gain access to practical and emotional support to help me and others in a range of circumstances. HWB 1-03a
We read the book Silly Billy about a boy who worried about everything. His grandma told Billy about making a worry doll. He could then tell the worry doll all of his worries.
We explored some of the things we worry about and we all made worry dolls that we could tell our worries to. We also discussed who else we could tell our worries to and in class we made sure we all knew how to use our worry box. Lets hope we don’t have any more worries.
