Well done, P3.2!

Wow, what a great start to primary 3! I bet the primary 1 class loved hearing the story and learned a lot about punctuation too! Well done to Albie, Jessica, Zoe, and Josh for finding right angles outside our school, they really are everywhere. I can see that you are all very confident in using Microsoft Word, well done. Resizing the picture can be tricky Lauren, I’m impressed you rose to the challenge and managed to achieve the learning intention. I liked to see you all working so well together during your problem solving tasks and the Show Racism the Red Card poster activity. I’m sure Mrs Wight enjoyed reading all your letters of complaint related to the book, ‘The Day the Pencils Quit’.

Thank you, P3.2.

We are planting potatoes!

Mr Strang (the farmer) brought 3 buckets for us to grow potatoes in.

“Mr Strang put stones in the bottom of the bucket (that had holes in it) so that the water could get out and not get jammed.” Jamie

“There was a big bag of soil and I put it in with my hands.” Grace

“I put a small potato in the bucket and covered it in soil.” Zoe

“When I was watering the watering can was really heavy and some of the water fell out of the tub.” Fern

“I liked it when we put the soil in and watching other people pouring the soil in too.” Isla

“We need to sing to them to help them grow.” Jessica

We will be watering the potatoes everyday, everyone will get a shot. We are learning about how things grow. When you water them every day they will start to grow. We want to make chips, crisps, mashed potato, baked potato and use them for printing in art! – P2.2

Different jobs around us!

I have had the opportunity to find out about jobs in my area and am beginning to understand about different types of work and employers.

I can learn about the world of work from visits.

“We have had a visit from a landscape architect.” Alex

“I learned that people like are all different and like different ideas.” Fern

“I learned that there are different shaped schools in the world. One was designed like a circle and had trees growing on the roof.” Isla

“We were visited by a nurse. She taught us about things in our body and bandaged up Albie’s arm.” Zoe

“I didn’t realise there were so many flags used in a football game.” Lauren

“The doctor brought a t-shirt and drew parts of the body on it.” Erin

“The GP bandaged up Charley.” Jessica

Chinese working!

Through taking part in a variety of events and activities, I am learning to recognise my own skills and abilities as well as those of others. HWB 1-19a

I know that friendship, caring, sharing, fairness, equality and love are important for building positive relationships. As I develop and value relationships, I care and show respect for myself and others. HWB 1-05a

We were learning about Chinese New Year.  We presented at assembly, we sang songs and showed our Chinese dragon.

“We got into pairs and we helped the nursery make dragons and drums.” Ronan

“I was in a group with Calum, Murray and Fern and we had a nursery pupil that was so cute and good at colouring in.” Isla

“We were buddies with the nursery pupils and I liked teaching them.” Zoe

Healthy Snowy Day!

Within and beyond my place of learning I am enjoying daily opportunities to participate activities and sport, making use of available indoor and outdoor space. HWB 1-25a

“We were helping each other push the tray down the hill.” Isla

“We were taking turns and being friends.” Alex

“We were keeping healthy by running up the hill.” Murray

“We were pushing each other down the hill.” Fern

“We had fun going down the hill on our trays.” Jamie

Mrs Johnston-Smith says, well done!

What a lot of fantastic learning going on in P2.2! The trip to the Science Centre looked very interesting and I can see from the photographs you were learning lots of new things about friction and had lots of fun at the optical illusions!

I loved hearing the class talk about Happy Snappy visiting the class. Well done for using the Easi-Speak and uploading to the blog, a great skill to be learning in P2. It was good to see that you know how to brush your teeth, making sure you brush in circles.

Google Expeditions looked fantastic and I agree with Andrew, the shark looked really real!

Happy New Year!

Colour Wheel Monsters!

During Art and Design, we created colour wheel monsters to help us learn the primary colours and secondary colours. In groups, we discussed what primary colours mix together to make secondary colours. We chose different materials to make our colour wheel, used scissors to cut out the wheel and created our monster!

We introduced our monster to the class!

I can create and present work using the visual elements of line, shape, form, colour, tone, pattern and texture.
