There is so much going on in RE and chaplaincy that we don’t have time to write about it! In June we were delighted to welcome priests and religious from around West Central Scotland to share their life stories with our S6 pupils. Meeting such inspiring people who have done extraordinary things in the service of God and His people is an invaluable opportunity for the young people. Conversation covered a huge range of topics and gave S6 pupils a sense that God is calling them to do amazing things in His name too!

Aspiring Catholic Teacher Scheme
Catholic schools need brilliant teachers and at Turnbull High School we have S6 pupils who are already aspiring to be just that. In the RE department, we have introduced an Aspiring Catholic Teacher Scheme which aims to offer such pupils support with applications and interviews in addition to valuable experience in the classroom. Those who have signed up are already helping in classes and engaging with staff in short mentoring conversations about aspects of learning and teaching. We hope that this scheme will empower them with foundational experience and help them to discern their calling as the next generation of outstanding Catholic teachers.
