Mental Health Awareness Week (9th – 16th May 2022)

Mental Health Awareness Week will take place from 9th to 15th May 2022, and this year’s theme is loneliness.

Connection to other people and our community is fundamental to our mental wellbeing.  Many people feel lonely at some point in their life, and there are lots of different reasons that a person might feel lonely.  This might include:

  • Moving away from old friends.
  • Working or learning at home.
  • Not being able to join your usual activities, clubs or classes.
  • Being unsure of how to reach out to others.

Things that can help if you feel lonely:

  1. Reach out to a friend, family member or teacher to tell them how you feel.
  2. Being active by trying a new hobby, going out for a walk, etc.
  3. Join a club or group that you are interested in.
  4. Express your feelings in a way that best suits you.
  5. Be kind to yourself!  Take things slow, and try not to put too much pressure on yourself.
