Primary 5/6 have been learning about St. Andrew this week. Our first task was to complete a fact file about him.
Next we were given a STEM challenge to build a boat for Andrew to go fishing in. Before we started, we investigated materials including wood, plastic, rock, metal and polystyrene. We guessed which would float before testing them. This helped us pick appropriate materials for our boats. We then planned our design and followed a criteria to build our boats. When completed, we tested our boats in water to see if they would float.
Through this task we developed our teamwork, communication and problem solving skills. Each team successfully completed the challenge and managed to build a boat which floated and kept Andrew dry!
