What a busy week we have had!
In numeracy this week we have been working on our addition and subtraction strategies. We have been making connections between what we already know and using this to extend our knowledge of number bonds to 10 and 100. We have also been looking at the patterns made when we double numbers.
During this term we have been learning how to identify the features of information reports and we have learned that information reports can come in a variety of formats. This week we created some information reports about the village where we live and used our word processing skills to present them.
We have been enjoying our current topic based on Flat Stanley’s adventures around the world. This week received some wonderful letters from St Roch’s Secondary School – Department of the Deaf. They told us all about Stanley’s adventures with them and even sent us some videos of them teaching Stanley some sign language.
Our interdisciplinary learning has given us the opportunity to study the climate zones around the world and how animals adapt to their surroundings. Mrs Dumigan has been impressed by how much knowledge Primary 3/4 have been sharing.
With Christmas time approaching we have started to prepare for our school show and everything that goes along with it. We have had fun learning the lyrics to our song as well as starting our Christmas art work. At this time of year we start to learn some social dances to prepare us for our Christmas party. This week we paired up with Primary 5 and had great fun learning the Canadian Barn Dance.
Finally, we have enjoyed having some of our families in to visit our classroom and share our learning. We hope you enjoyed being in too.
Take a look at some snapshot photos of our week.
