Homework 22nd-28th October 2024

Homework for Primary 3/4 will be  posted here on a Tuesday. Pupils will be issued with their digital passport to take home, which will include the log in details required for homework tasks set. Please keep this in a safe place.

Each week the homework guidance will be a similar format. The tasks will link with current learning or will be revision of previous learning. The aim of the tasks is to develop the learners fluency in numeracy recall and reading.

Please note the order is for guidance only – tasks can be completed in any order. If your child is becoming overwhelmed with any of the tasks please stop and take a break. Each task should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. 

Tuesday 22nd October – Monday 28th October

The following tasks have been assigned in Sumdog and Giglets. They can be completed in any order. The Giglets text could be split over a few days as there is lots of information in the book.

We have spoken about the Rights of the Child in class since August. Read and discuss a time when these rights have been used and recognised at home and school.

Tuesday 8th October

In class we are reading Flat Stanley as a class novel and this week the children will bring home ‘Flat Stanley’ for an adventure.

As a class we have posted Stanley to various locations around the world in the hope that he will reply to us about his travels.

It is hoped that Stanley can join in with your family on daily activities or any trips you have planned. If you wish to email any photos or updates of Stanley on his travels they can be emailed to:

Pupils can also bring in a photograph of Stanley or speak to the class about his adventures after the October break.

Wednesday 9th October – My village research sheet.

Details are on the back of the sheet sent home. This can be brought back after the October break.

 

 Thursday 10th October – Numbots

Log in to Numbots and refresh your numeracy skills.

 

Friday 11th October –Enjoy the October break!

 

 

 

Monday 30th September – This is the last day of September. Research some popular days coming up in the next month.  Are there any special saints days? A celebration? What season are we now in? What month is next? What changes will we see in the next few weeks? Discuss with an adult.

Tuesday 1st October – Sumdog Maths

This week we are working on data handling. Log in to Sumdog and complete the data handling task which is labelled ‘Homework 1st-7th October’. The task will be open all week.

Wednesday 2nd October – Sumdog Spelling

Log in to Sumdog and select spelling. Complete this week’s spelling task named ‘Spelling Homework 1st-7th October’.

Thursday 3rd October –  Talking and Listening

Look at the image below and talk about what might be happening in the scene. Have you ever been somewhere like this? What does it remind you of? What time of year do you think it is? Would you like to be there?

Monday  7th October – Giglets

Choose a book from your online library. Read it with an adult or enjoy listening to it on your own. Have fun reading!
