Dear Parents/Carers,
On behalf of the staff of St. Joseph’s Academy, I wish you a peaceful and relaxing Easter break. School is now closed and will not re-open until Monday 19th April.
Over the holiday period, we expect the government to release absolute confirmation of re-opening arrangements and will communicate those arrangements to you via the school app. We still anticipate that school will re-open to all pupils on a full-time basis.
Otherwise, school staff are now on annual leave and will not respond to general enquiries until our return on Monday 19th April. In an emergency, we advise that parents/carers use the contact us page on our website to get in touch with senior staff.
I also attach a letter from Linda McAulay-Griffiths (Head of Education) wherein confirmation of two additional in-service days is shared with you. The additional in-service days are Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd June. The Scottish Government took the decision to grant secondary schools two additional days in light of the workload associated with grading SQA courses this session. These in-service days do not apply to primary schools or ECCs.
By way of a reminder, between the 19th of April and the final day of the school term (Friday 25th June), our school is not open to pupils on:
Monday 3rd May – Local Holiday
Thursday 6th May – In-service Day due to elections
Monday 31st May – Local Holiday
Tuesday 1st June – Additional In-service Day due to demands of SQA course assessment
Wednesday 2nd June – Additional In-service Day to demands of SQA course assessment
We very much look forward to seeing our pupils again on the 19th April. I thank you for your support and would also like to acknowledge the excellent work of staff and pupils during what has been an incredibly busy and demanding term.
Kind Regards
Mr Kane
