Dear Parent/Carer,
Given the ongoing weather warning across East Ayrshire, which has already resulted in localised flooding and less than ideal driving conditions, this evening’s post inspection Information Evening has been postponed. The meeting will now take place on Tuesday 18th February at 7pm.
January and February 2020 Parents’ Evenings and Information Evenings
Tuesday 7th January – S3 Parents’ Evening (4pm – 6pm)
Thursday 9th January – S3 Options Information Evening (7pm)
Thursday 16th January – S2 Options Information Evening (7pm)
Thursday 23rd January – S4/5 Options Information Evening (7pm)
Monday 27th January – Parent Council (7pm)
Tuesday 28th January – P7 into S1 Information Evening (7pm)
Tuesday 4th February – S4 Parents’ Evening
Tuesday 18th February – Post Inspection Information Evening (6pm)
Given the volume of calendared Parents’ and Information Evenings, it is not possible to re-schedule the post inspection event until mid-February.
Kind Regards

Our Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) team is called Hidden Gold. They believe that they can give new life to old items which would normally be destroyed. The team have produced an Art Therapy Pack for people with dementia. It is made up of a wooden block (with a cut-out for a tealight), small jar of paint, paintbrush, sponge and disposable gloves. Hidden Gold recently approached staff of Crossgate Care Home in Kilmarnock to encourage them to order some packs for their residents.
The manager, Heather Lundie, was very impressed by the product and she thinks her residents will love it. She agreed that it could be very therapeutic and fun to do. Heather believes it to be a very “simple but effective” idea and she was also impressed by the low price that Hidden Gold charges for each pack.
Heather said that her residents are unable to buy gifts for their family and friends independently, so our product offers them the opportunity to regain that simple pleasure by making their own. Heather has even invited Hidden Gold back into Crossgate to help her residents to work with their packs, so the team are very excited to have an opportunity to take part in an inter-generational activity!

As in previous sessions we are able to offer an Easter School programme of revision activities to support pupils as they enter the final stages before this year’s SQA Exam Diet. Each day will consist of two session (morning and afternoon) and we will be able to provide transport for pupils to attend Easter School. Please note transport will only be provided to those who normally receive school transport.
Pupils will be asked to sign up for Easter School with departments by their class teachers – this will take place over the next few weeks. We will also communicate to parents/carers an overview of what your child has committed to attend – we look for your support in ensuring attendance (particularly where transport arrangements have been made).
We offer our thanks to staff for giving this opportunity for pupils during the Easter Holidays. The timetable can be accessed by clicking on the image below.
