Homework 15th January 2024

Literacy

Last week in Literacy, P2 were learning the ‘ou’ (about) phoneme. This week for homework, we would like you to try to read the ‘ou’ words on the homework sheet and then copy the words in your nicest handwriting.

Here is a video to help you if you get stuck.

Miss Walley’s group have been working on the ‘l’ phoneme and have also been reading the book ‘Cats!’. This week for homework, we would like you to try to read the ‘at’ and ‘am’ words, which you may recognise from the story. Then, we would like you to copy the words in your nicest handwriting.

Here is a video to help you practise your ‘l’ phoneme as well.

Numeracy

This week, we would like you to complete the scrapbook challenge which has been stuck into your red scrapbook. This challenge focuses on fractions which links to your current learning in class.

Burns Assembly

Primary 3 have set the rest of the school a challenge to learn a Scottish poem or song to take part in a Burns assembly in February. Primary 2 have chosen to learn Sair Teeth by Ellie McDonald. Over the next few weeks, we are asking all children to practise this poem at home. Two or three children will be chosen to recite this poem in front of the school at assembly. However, all children will be given the opportunity to recite it in front of their class if they want to.

Sair Teeth

I’ll hae tae buy a dentist’s drill
Tae gie my Teddy’s teeth a fill
I’ve telt him every single nicht,
Clean yer teeth and dae it richt.
But Teddy disnae – that’s for shair –
And nou his twa front teeth are sair!
My Teddy’s thrawn as thrawn can be
An winna pey nae heed tae me.
My mither says, ‘Weill that’s a laugh!
What dae ye think he taks it aff?

Thank you for your continued support with homework.

Miss Mulhern and Mrs Donnelly.
