Homework Week Beginning 22nd April 2024

Hello and welcome back to Primary 2! I hope you all had a lovely holiday and are ready for the term ahead.

Literacy

This week, we have been learning a new phoneme. This week our phoneme focus is ‘ue’ as in glue and blue. This week for homework we are asking you to write a sentence containing one or more ‘ue’ words and to draw a beautiful picture to match. This can be done in your pink homework jotters. Here is my example below, although, I am sure you can do so much better!

Here is a video to help you if you are struggling to think of some ‘ue’ words.

Miss Walley’s group have been learning the ‘sh’ phoneme. This week for homework, they have a ‘sh’ worksheet.
Please also continue to use your letters and boxes to help them make words from the list. These were provided before the holidays.

Here is a video to help you remember some of the ‘sh’ words we have spoken about in class.

Numeracy and Mathematics

This week for homework you have another Maths Scrapbook activity. Last week in school we were recapping all that we know about money. Your task this week is based around using money to pay for items.

Thank you for your continued support with homework. We kindly ask that homework is returned on Friday.

Miss Mulhern and Miss Walley.

Homework 19.2.24

Hello P2, here is the details of your homework for this week!

This week, our phoneme is the split ‘a’ phoneme. e.g. shape.
On Monday we will look at some a_e words in class using our flipchart and phoneme story. At home, we would link you to create your own word bank, detailing all of the a_e words that you can think of.  Here is a video explaining the a_e phoneme, in case you need some help…

Miss Walley’s group continue to work on using the sounds they know to make new words. At home this week, we are asking you to use your sounds to blend and write some cvc words.

In Numeracy and Mathematics, P2 have been learning all about money. This week for homework, we are asking you to complete the Money Challenge scrapbook.

As always, we thank you for your continued support with homework.

Mrs Donnelly and Miss Mulhern.

Homework 22nd January 2024

Literacy

This week for Literacy homework, we are asking you to complete a consolidation worksheet which includes the joined phonemes we have been focusing on recently in class.

Miss Walley’s group have been learning and practising the ‘f’ phoneme. This week for homework you have the ‘f’ worksheet to complete. You might need someone at home to help you to sound out and write the words but that’s okay!

Numeracy

In Numeracy we have been focusing on fractions (halves and quarters). This week, your homework sheet gives you a chance to practise halving and quartering shapes and whole numbers. Give the challenge question a go if you can but don’t worry if you find it a bit tricky.

Thank you for your continued support with homework.

Miss Mulhern and Mrs Donnelly.

Homework 15th January 2024

Literacy

Last week in Literacy, P2 were learning the ‘ou’ (about) phoneme. This week for homework, we would like you to try to read the ‘ou’ words on the homework sheet and then copy the words in your nicest handwriting.

Here is a video to help you if you get stuck.

Miss Walley’s group have been working on the ‘l’ phoneme and have also been reading the book ‘Cats!’. This week for homework, we would like you to try to read the ‘at’ and ‘am’ words, which you may recognise from the story. Then, we would like you to copy the words in your nicest handwriting.

Here is a video to help you practise your ‘l’ phoneme as well.

This week, we would like you to complete the scrapbook challenge which has been stuck into your red scrapbook. This challenge focuses on fractions which links to your current learning in class.

Burns Assembly

Primary 3 have set the rest of the school a challenge to learn a Scottish poem or song to take part in a Burns assembly in February. Primary 2 have chosen to learn Sair Teeth by Ellie McDonald. Over the next few weeks, we are asking all children to practise this poem at home. Two or three children will be chosen to recite this poem in front of the school at assembly. However, all children will be given the opportunity to recite it in front of their class if they want to.
