First Aid Training

It was wonderful to welcome Claire from Mini First Aid to Fenwick Primary School this week.  Over the course of Monday and Tuesday, all our pupils undertook first aid training.  They learnt how to call the emergency services, put someone into the recovery position, how to deal with cuts, burns and choking and much more!

We are in no doubt that our pupils have learnt valuable life skills from these informative sessions.

Thank you to Claire and to our Parent Council who arranged for the whole school to participate in this training.

School Improvement and Development: Sharing Our Work

On Wednesday 29th April, parents and the community were welcomed to a drop-in session to have a look at the work staff and pupils have been doing in line with our school improvement plan and development work.

We showcased what our pupil committees have been leading this session, digital technologies to support literacy and numeracy, transition into Primary 1, our Parent Council, Upper School Transition Project – Vex Go and lots more.

Dance Fest 2026

Well done to our P4–7 pupils who took part in East Ayrshire’s Dance Fest. Over the past few months, they have worked incredibly hard to perfect their dance routine and showed fantastic confidence on stage while representing Fenwick values in the wider community.

Our Dance Fest team are a real credit to the school, and we are extremely proud of every child for their performance and the way they enjoyed the experience alongside their peers.

World Book Day

World Book Day

Today we celebrated our love of reading across the school. We took part in lots of reading activities with our house teams in the morning, including a book treasure hunt, reading Kahoot, Masked Reader activity and reading den in the hall . As well as lots of fun reading together, everyone enjoyed some healthy competition and scored lots of points for their house.

Well done to Dunlop who won the book treasure hunt and Fowlds who won the WBD Kahoot quiz.

In the afternoon we headed back to class to take part in more reading activities to promote reading for pleasure in our school.

Well done to everyone who came dressed up or came dressed in what made them happy.

Pupil Council

Our Pupil Council recently met with our Parent Council and Mr Houston.  They are hoping to improve our school playground.  They have lots of ideas:

games painted on the playground, obstacle course, more resources, shelter refurbished, outdoor lighting.

Tonight our Junior Road Safety Officers Abbie and Olivia went to the local Beavers’ group to talk about road safety.

They had prepared a poster for the children which they talked about to help them remember the road safety rules.

Once they had explained the rules for crossing a road, Abbie and Olivia asked the children to design a road safety mascot and to draw it crossing the road.

The children worked extremely hard and Abbie and Olivia found it very difficult to narrow it down to choose a winner!  But they persevered!

All the children were given a road safety reflective keyring.

We would like to thank Mrs Handling for inviting our J.R.S.O.s along and both of them put a lot of preparation into the event and were a credit to our school.

East Ayrshire Cross Country

Well done to our P7 Boys and P7 Girls Teams who took part in the East Ayrshire Schools Cross Country Event on Thursday 6th November.
We are very proud of our athletes who demonstrated our school value of ambition and showed determination and resilience competing against other schools from within  East Ayrshire.
Washing machines were put to good use after this muddy event!
Well done #teamfenwick!
