Where did January go?

Primary 7 had a very busy January with a Scottish history and language focus.

We visited Burns House Museum in Mauchline and took part in drama and shadow puppet workshops which recreated the story of Tam O’Shanter. We also got to take a tour around the museum and heard some great facts about Robert Burns.

Our annual Scots poetry competition included three primary seven pupils who took on the poetry of Robert Burns . They worked really hard on their delivery to put on some wonderful performances and we are all so proud of them.

A massive well done to Ellie and Frazer for coming joint runners up and to John who not only won the primary seven heat but was the overall competition winner!

Primary seven were really lucky to be trained by the Ayrshire speech and language therapists to help with their campaign, Getting wee people chatting. In the coming weeks they will be working with their primary 1 buddies to support their language development. Remember to ask your child all about their training!

We were also really lucky to have a visit from charity NIL by Mouth. We explored sectarianism and it’s impact on society.  This fits in with our on-going learning in Health and Wellbeing around respect and celebrating differences.

We are looking forward to seeing what February brings! Stay tuned!
