Welcome to our Blog

Welcome to the primary 6/7 blog for session 2018-2019. We have all settled well into our new class and have been getting to know each other through lots of community building and team building activities.

Our regular Physical Education days are Tuesday and Thursday therefore suitable kit should be available on these days. Long hair must be tied back and earrings MUST be removed before the lesson, tape and plasters can not be used to cover them, as per East Ayrshire risk assessment guidelines. Our teachers are aiming to give us more opportunities to take part in learning outdoors this session and we are reminded to bring suitable outdoor jackets every day.

We have been learning about energy, what it is and where it comes from. We looked at renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and the impact of these on our environment. We had a lively class debate on the best source of energy to power Scotland. We have been taking part in some electricity experiments and have set ourselves the challenge of finding out how electricity work over the next few weeks.

We have started our class novel study of Michael Morgurgo’s Private Peacefull. We are enjoying this so much we have decided that we would like to learn more about the time the novel is set, during World War one. We have decided to start this after the September holiday.

Come back soon for more class updates and information.
