Week Ending 16.01.26

We had a very busy week in P7. The children were fabulous hosts to our guests from the East Ayrshire Learning Visit. The visitors commented on how polite, friendly and welcoming they were and said they were an absolute credit to the school.

We have been busing getting stuck into our Scotland focus.  At the start of the week we researched castles then made our own 3D models of the castles.

We did a spot of Scottish poetry writing on Friday, based on the poem “Lament for a Lost Dinner Ticket” and chose our own things to write about.  The poems were absolutely fabulous and we’ll be proudly displaying them in the corridors for everyone to see.

We also discussed Scottish foods and are hoping to make some tasty dishes in the next couple of weeks for Health and Wellbeing.

First Week of Term Three

After a very eventful start to the week we settled back in and started all our new topics and areas of work.

In PE we started our basketball focus and lesson one was all about dribbling and staying in control of the ball.

In  maths we started learning about Fractions, Decimals and Percentages with a focus on fractions to start.  We completed several activities to help us revise equivalent fractions.

Merry Christmas

We’ve had a fantastic time at the Pantomime yesterday and then a lovely day playing games and flexing our skills on the Karaoke!

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we’ll see you bright and early on Monday 5th January 2026!

Dolphin House Day 2

Our adventure may have been cut short due to Storm Bram but we still had a ball! We crammed so much into day two including the chance to explore brand new caves, navigate tight crawls and hear spooky stories in the darkness. We did some bush crafts, using flints to light fires and toast marshmallows, then we hit the beach to wave jump. It was an adventure from start to finish. Check out our videos (keep your eyes peeled for the wellie shot!)

Dolphin House Day 1

It might be wet but the weather hasn’t dampened our day! We arrived safe and sound ready to start the first challenge – bed making! We saw some fascinating techniques getting duvets into their covers and fitted sheets onto the mattresses. Before long it was time to unpack and head for lunch. After refuelling we headed on a walk around the grounds before a giant game of tig in the park. We puddle jumped our way back to base for dinner and are now heading out for our night time of beach combing for rocks, exploring the castle grounds and then settling down with a hot chocolate and a film before bed!

Week Ending 05.12.25

We have had such a busy week with the final preparations for the Christmas Fayre.  The Primary 7s all did a fantastic job setting up the hall on Thursday afternoon and we would like to say a huge thank you to those who volunteered to come and help run the stalls at the Fayre.  We couldn’t have done it without them.

Our P7 bauble stall made £100 profit which we will add to our Hoodie/P7 Day Out fund.

Apologies for the lack of photos this week as we were just so busy, but prepare yourself for a deluge of photos next week as we are super excited for the residential visit to Dolphin House.

Week Ending 28.11.25

The Primary 7s ran an amazingly successful ‘Revive and Thrive’ sale this week.  Not only did they collect in, clean and organise all of the toys, but they also priced up each item individually and then sold them at a very busy sale on Wednesday.  Each class was given a time slot to attend and they had great fun choosing a toy to take home.

On Thursday afternoon we had a production line in progress, preparing our baubles for the Christmas Fayre. The baubles will be personalised by Mrs Cook at the Fayre on Thursday night, but the P7s are allowed to bring in their £2 early to get their bauble made for them on Thursday afternoon in class if they wish.

For our Literacy Open morning on Thursday, the P7s created activities for the P1, 2 and 3 classes to go with their Book Bug and Read, Write Count bags they were being gifted.  As well as creating and resourcing all of the activities, the P7s also went to help in the classes, helping to lead the learning.  I was so proud of how hard they all worked and all of the other teachers commented on how fantastic the activities were.

For PE this week, we practised our Rugby skills from last week. We played 5 pass and then finished with an epic game of dodge ball.
