School Trip – Heads of Ayr Farm Park

Another fabulous trip to the Farm Park.  The kids were fabulous and we certainly enjoyed cooling down in the water whilst enjoying the fabulous sunshine. All the children who attended have come home with a voucher for a free return visit. Hopefully some of you will be able to take advantage of this during the summer holidays.

It’s been a short but busy week in P7. On Tuesday we played round 2 of our Chess Championship and it’s getting very exciting. Well done to those who are through to round 3.

On Wednesday we went to an assembly for the big reveal to find out what athlete is going to be visiting us in a few weeks time. Then we went outside to participate in the 100m sprint as part of our Sports Championship.

On Friday, as part of our transition programme, we wrote a letter to Mrs Anderson at the RBA to tell her about ourselves.

We look forward to hearing everyone’s Big Talk presentations next week.

We’ve had a busy week in P7 starting our new subjects and topics for the final term.

In maths we have been learning about percentages and here are two fabulous examples of the work we have been doing. Well done to Alfie and Poppy for setting their work out so beautifully.

In writing, we started our unit on Persuasive Writing and we had to write short, persuasive texts giving our opinion on a certain topic and reasons to back it up. Here are two fabulous pieces of work from Leighton and Brooke that showcase wonderful, mature vocabulary and well thought-out opinions.

End of Term 3

What a busy term we’ve had! We rounded off the last of the Virgin Money Enterprise groups this week with the Candy Kings selling their tuckshop to some very happy customers.

As it was the last week of term, we took part in the annual Easter Egg decorating competition and all the staff were blown away by the quality of the creations from Primary 7! It was almost impossible to choose a winner as they were all amazing but well done to Poppy who was the eventual winner with her Nanny McPhee themed egg.

Have a wonderful Easter break and we’ll see you all back on the 20th April ready for our final term in P7.

We took part in a STEM webinar hosted by the Tree of Knowledge.  We learned that STEM isn’t about being the smartest person in the room. It’s about being curious, having the right mindset and wanting to learn new things.

A wee sneak peak of P7 from photo day… stay tuned for the official photo.

On Thursday we had fun taste testing different Scottish and Finnish snacks and we compared them and rated them out of ten.  We sampled Tunnock’s Teacakes and Shortbread from Scotland and Kex Bars and Choco TV Mix from Finland.

The Teacakes were a clear favourite. The Choco TV mix was very popular as there were so many different flavours in the pack although we discovered the white Lakrifun sweets were actually liquorice, which was an unwelcome surprise for some!

We had a visit from Miss Naismith from the RBA this week. She is one of the guidance teachers and she came with some senior pupils to talk to us about things like the different subjects and how the timetables work.  The Primary 7s listened so well and asked some great questions too.

As part of our Scottish topic, we have been looking at bridges such as the Forth Road bridge.  We were set a challenge to build our own bridge and see how much weight it could hold.

We also finished off our Scottish Castle 3D models.  Don’t they look fabulous?

Sports Hall Athletics

We had a fabulous afternoon at the RBA taking part in the annual Sports hall athletics competition. We were in a heat with St Patrick’s, Lochnorris and Muirkirk Primaries and as usual, the Catrine weans represented the school beautifully!
