Our Week

This week we have read more of our novel study, Holes by Louis Sachar, and we cannot wait to find out what will happen next! We also completed our introductions for our stories for our Buddies. We have continued to explore fractions of a quantity using a variety of methods.  We began to explore buoyancy in science and planned experiments which we will conduct next week. And we took inspiration from our emotions to create pieces of art work. We had our second Leadership session with Barry today which everyone loved.

A Week in P6

This week we have learned how to find a fraction of an amount using our division strategies. In literacy we have continued to work on our novel study, Holes. We completed tasks based on chapters 17-21, exploring themes such as friendship and blame. Today, we began writing out stories for our buddies. We cannot wait to keep working on these.

We worked in pairs/indivually to create entries for our Pocket Garden competition which are based on the themes of ‘Our Heritage’, ‘One Planet Picnic’, and ‘Wildlife Gardening’.

We also began researching each country in Europe. We found out their capital cities, populations, currency, and facts about them. Today we also began our Leadership sessions with Barry in PE. During these sessions we will learn how to lead games and activities for younger children. Finally, some of our pupils took part in the P7 slime making experience.

Our Week

This week in numeracy we have been using multiplication to find equivalent fractions and division to simplify fractions. In literacy we have continued to work on our novel study, and on Thursday we completed an inference question carousel in small groups. Pupils worked together to recall information from the book and, using their inference skills, formed answers to the questions asked.

In PE we began practicing rallying in badminton, we pushed ourselves to improve on each score. Pupils completed their presentations on their Famous Scots. The class also worked in small groups to create their structures for our technology lesson. Each group was to build a structure which would hold a dictionary for 10 seconds without support from pupils. Each group was successful in their building.
