It has been a short but exciting week for us in P4/5.
We began to learn about various instruments from the ‘string family’ and even got to select an instrument for ourselves that we will learn to play over the coming weeks and months.
We chose a variety of string instruments including viola, cello, violins and a double bass!
We learned about the parts of each instruments, how to hold them correctly and the rest positions. Check us out!
We also got to work creating close – up portraits of ‘The Trunchbull’. We used the visual elements of line and talked lots about expression to create these gruesome portraits of the villain from our novel. Have a look at how they turned out.
Yesterday we had our new board installed in our classroom. We have put it to good use already. Check out some of the super strategies used to solve this calculation.
We continued working on our study of ‘Matilda’ and used the visualisation strategy to create timelines of the events in chapter 4.
We also took part in a lesson on how to draw characters in the style of illustrator Quinton Blake. We put our learning to good use and created some wonderful character drawings of Matilda.
Coral then made us a life size Matilda to display on our wall. After drawing, Coral then painted her artwork with some help from Brooke and Lucie. We love it and think it looks lovely on our Literacy wall. 🎨 💓
