Homework – Week 3

This week pupils have been given a ‘Planning a trip’ task for numeracy homework. This task involves planning a day trip with a budget of £100. Please see the task below.

Homework should be completed and returned by Monday 16th March.

World Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day yesterday.

Some pupils took part in a competition to decorate a lollipop stick as a book character.

Well done to Poppy who was chosen as the P4 winner. She decorated her lollipop stick as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and won a set of Michael Rosen books.

We all got to choose a book to take home from the World Book Day Book Swap.

We wrote about our favourite books and designed a new cover for our favourite book. We also made reading posters for the classroom book corner.

We had a World Book Day quiz.

Well done to Matthew and Ellie who were the winners!

Every pupil got a lovely new World Book Day book to take home and read.

This Week in P4

This week in P4 we have been learning to simplify fractions in maths.

Well done to Shaun who has been working hard to learn times table facts and has now completed his times table passport.

In literacy we have been continuing to work on our handwriting and writing targets. Cole has been working so hard to improve his handwriting and it is clearly evident in his written work.

We have been learning about digital learning and ways of keeping safe online.

We went for a class walk to the park.

Matthew was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket and chose Allan from P5 to sit with him at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Matthew!

Weekly Round-Up

It has been a very busy week with lots going on in Primary 4!

We celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes in class. We had to follow a recipe, measure out all of the ingredients needed and then we got to eat them. Some of us even had a go at flipping a pancake!

In literacy the next day we wrote a set of instructions for making pancakes.

We have been continuing our work on fractions in numeracy.

We finished our wonderful Kelpies silhouette artwork.

We went for a walk to The Voes to feed the ducks.

M&M Productions visited the school this week and performed the show ‘Oliver Twist’ for us.

Carson was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket this week and chose Lyle to sit with him at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Carson!

This week in P4

We have only had 3 days in school this week, but we have managed to fit in a lot of learning.

We have been working on our new learning target in writing to start sentences in different ways. This helps to make our writing more interesting.

In numeracy we have been learning to recognise and identify a fraction of shapes and an amount.

We have been learning about Scottish mythical creatures and have been working on creating Kelpies silhouette pictures in art. We painted our background this week and will finish off the silhouettes next week.

We also had Discovery Dens again this week where we got to take part in lots of different activities.

Science Centre Trip

Here is a recount of our trip to the Science Centre written by Logan.

Yesterday we went to the Science Centre on a bus.

The Science Centre is in Glasgow.

We had a snack first and after our snack we went to the toilets. Next we went to the third floor and we went to the IMAX to watch the Animal Kingdom. We needed to wear 3D glasses in the IMAX.

After we went to the first floor and there was a big tv that we could draw on. Then we had lunch in the Clyde Suite.

Finally we went to the second floor and we went back to school then we went home.

Weekly Round-Up

It has been another busy week of learning in Primary 4.

We have been working so hard on our writing targets in Literacy that we are ready to move onto a new target next week. We have been learning to find a half and a quarter of an amount in Numeracy and have been learning to identify organs in the human body in Science.

In art we have been learning about the Scottish artist Gillian Kyle and have been creating our own Scottish pop art pictures.

We also went a class walk to the park this week.

We are all looking forward to our trip to the Science Centre next Wednesday.
