This week in P4

This week in P4 we have been preparing for Sports Day by practising our races in the gym hall and at the park. Keep your fingers crossed that the sun is shining for Sports Day next Friday!

Well done to Carter and Rhys who completed their times table passports this week and are now Multiplication Masters.

On Thursday afternoon the RBA brass band performed a concert for P4 and P5 pupils. Some of our pupils will get the chance to learn to play a brass instrument next session.

It’s hard to believe there are only 4 more weeks to go until the summer holiday!

Weekly Round-Up

It has been another week of glorious sunshine, it’s just a pity this lovely weather isn’t going to last.

We made the most of  by the sunshine by going for a walk to the river on Monday afternoon. We saw lots of tadpoles and enjoyed catching them in containers to have a closer look. We made sure we returned them all to the water before we left!

Our pupils have been working so hard to learn chess and took part in round 1 of the Chess Championship on Tuesday. Well done to the pupils who have made it through to round 2.

We also had Discovery Dens again on Wednesday afternoon, where we got to take part in lots of different activities. Mrs McKenna’s group were learning to draw an ice-cream tower.

We have also been taking part in ‘Walk to School Week’ this week and have enjoyed walking to school with a different theme each day. Have a look at some of our crazy hairstyles yesterday!

We completed the vertical jump for the Junior Sports Championship in PE this week.

Riley was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Carter to sit with him at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Riley!

Homework Week 4

Pupils have been given a homophones practice worksheet to complete for homework this week. Homophones are words that sound the same but have a different spelling and meaning. Pupils should complete the sentences using the homophone they’re, there or their. Click on the links below to see the worksheet and a poster to help understand the different meanings of the words.

Class Talks

Well done Primary 4 for the hard work and effort you put into your class talks this week. I loved hearing about your favourite books and movies.

You all did an amazing job presenting your talks to an audience and should be very proud of yourselves!

Homework Week 3

Pupils should be ready to present their class talks this week. Please see previous posts for details.

The focus for homework this week is spelling words ending in ‘le’. Pupils have been given a spelling homework grid and spelling list to work on at home this week (see below). Please choose some of the spelling strategies to practise your spelling words.

Homework should be returned by Monday 19th May.

This Week in P4

This week in Primary 4 we have been learning about Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

It was the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday and we observed a minute silence to remember the people who fought for our country in World War 2.

We wrote about VE Day in literacy and created some super pieces of work.

We also made posters to commemorate VE Day.

In maths we have been learning about money to £20.

We have started our Junior Sports Championship and this week we completed the ball throw event.

Remember that class talks are due to be presented next week. Please see the previous posts for details.

Homework Week 2

Pupils should continue to work on their class talks ready to present them to the class next week. Please see previous homework post for details.

The focus for homework this week is spelling common and tricky words. Pupils have been given a spelling homework grid and spelling list to work on at home this week (see below). Please choose some of the activities on the grid to practise your spelling words.

Homework should be returned by Monday 12th May.

Weekly Round-Up

This week in Primary 4 we have been learning to use and handle money up to £10 in maths.

In literacy we have started our new book study ‘The Hundred Mile an Hour Dog’ by Jeremy Strong. We have been continuing to work on improving our writing by using conjunctions. Allan and Carter both chose to write about World War II during free writing today and created some super pieces of work.

We also had Discovery Dens again on Wednesday afternoon, where we got to take part in lots of different activities. Mrs McKenna’s group were learning to draw some spring animals.

We went for a class walk to the park this week. The last few times we have visited the park there has been lots of rubbish, so we took some litter pickers and bin bags to collect any rubbish that was lying about. Calli was a great help at collecting rubbish and we left the park looking much cleaner than when we arrived!

Have a great long weekend!
